Happy World Trade Month!

The month of May is World Trade Month, a time in which we acknowledge the importance of world trade and look back upon the advancements we’ve made over time. It is marked annually by state and local events that both promote U.S. international trade and provide a series of educational events.

Within Los Angeles, the LA Chamber hosts World Trade Week (WTW), an initiative in which world trade is celebrated throughout May. Over 30 events are hosted by partner organizations in Southern California, and this year’s began after the Chamber’s WTW Kickoff Breakfast this past Tuesday.

2015 was a great year for U.S. exports, and the U.S. increased its amount of exports in 58 different international markets (International Trade Administration). Exporting supported 11.5 million U.S. jobs, contributing to 13% of the United States’ GDP. As more than 95% of the world’s customers live outside of the U.S., it is important that we continue to promote access to these markets.

Mercatura Global would like to wish you all a happy World Trade Month, and we encourage you to utilize this month to increase your awareness on international trade. If you own a small- to medium-sized business and would like to explore your export potential, please contact us today to learn more.
